VOLUNTEERS
"What is a volunteer?" Is it someone who does something for FREE? Yes, but there’s a little more to it than that. A volunteer is a very special person who gives freely of their time and talents for the benefit of others, without personal renumeration.
Who is a Volunteer?
A volunteer is a person who is willing to help perform any one of the necessary unpaid jobs in our club. Your role as a volunteer is important to our sport. You can be actively involved in your child's swimming program and can also be instrumental in strengthening swimming in the community
There are unlimited opportunities to get involved to help in almost any capacity. The rewards are meeting new people, making new friends and having that great feeling that you have had an impact on your child's athletic environment, and love of swimming.
This season GSH will be introducing family participation and fundraising components for all competitive programs.
The family participation is a program that will help strengthen our swim community as families work together to make our club better and stronger. While the focus of family participation is on creating club officials, there are many other roles within the club that need family volunteers. We welcome all family members (parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents). Follow the Family Participation link for a full description of this program.
GSH has adopted two fundraising prorgrams to assist both the club and swimmers alike. The Shop and Support program allows members to purchase gift cards for everyday family items such as gas and groceries. A percentage of the proceeds are then credited back to the swim club. Once the fundraising requirements have been met, GSH members can direct their fundraising monies to items such as equipment, swim fees and meet fees. Our second fundraising program is Swim-A-Thon. The Swim-A-Thon will take place in March when swimmers are not competing. We hope to run contests for those top achievers, making the event fun and exciting for our swimmers.
