Mel Hanna - February 27, 1968 to March 18, 2015

Dear GSH Swim Family,

It is with great sorrow, that I inform all of you that our beloved dryland Strength and Conditioning coach, Mel Hanna has passed away.

I worked alongside Mel every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon for 4 years, I must say we had a lot of laughs along the way…and Mel had a very memorable laugh! (Which I will miss.)

Mel was intensely devoted to her passion; fitness. She encouraged all who she worked with to strive to do their very best. Mel worked hard to find ways to enhance our swimmers' physical literacy, she was always searching for ways to improve so that she could pass on her knowledge to our athletes.

I loved and admired Mel because she was always so fierce, but balanced. Mel had a true compassion for people, especially our GSH swimmers.

I am still in shock about her passing and truly feel that this past weekend God took a good one home.

On behalf of the entire GSH Family, I would like to extend our condolences to Mel's family; especially to her son Liam and her husband Karl.

Coach Val
